Your first visit with the Radiation Oncologist is called a consultation visit. The Radiation Oncologist will perform a physical examination and your records including pathology reports will be reviewed. The Radiation Oncologist and the nurse will also explain the type of cancer, the radiation treatment options as well as other treatment modalities such as chemotherapy and surgery that may be beneficial and possible side effects associated with treatment. Helping you to understand your diagnosis and the treatments available is very important to your Radiation Oncologist and the staff of The Center For Cancer Care. If the Radiation Oncologist recommends Radiation Therapy, the next step will be Simulation.
