Known as the PDQ, it offers peer-reviewed summaries on cancer treatment, screening, prevention, genetics, and supportive care; a registry of global closed cancer trials; and a directory of physicians, genetics services, and organizations which offer cancer care.


The American Institute for Cancer Research (http://www.aicr.org/) provides information on the latest cancer research, as well as guidelines on ways to reduce risk of cancer through healthy eating and living.

The American Cancer Society (http://www.cancer.org/) provides a variety of information for patients, family, community, and professionals.

The U.S. National Library of Medicine (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/) offers a search engine to find information on diseases, cancers, current research, and treatments.

Oncolink (http://cancer.med.upenn.edu/) is a service provided by the University of Pennsylvania containing updates on cancer news and research.

National Institutes of Health’s (http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/) is a service developed by the United States National Institutes of Health through its National Library of Medicine to provide patients, family members, and members of the public current information about clinical research studies. It includes an overview of clinical trials and how patients can become involved in them, as well as a search engine for current trials and links to other informational websites.

Coalition of National Cancer Cooperative Groups’ (http://www.cancertrialshelp.org/). This network of specialization in cancer clinical trials offers news and information on experimental cancer treatment.

National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (http://www.canceradvocacy.org), formed of, by, and for cancer survivors, is an advocacy group which works on behalf of all people with cancer, caregivers, and survivors by promoting cancer research, funding, and health policy.

National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) (http://www.nsabp.pitt.edu) is a national clinical research group in which CCI is a member that offers clinical trials.

Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) (http://www.swog.org) is a national clinical research group in which CCI is a member that offers clinical trials.

Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) (http://www.rtog.org) is a national clinical research group in which CCI is a member that offers clinical trials.

National Breast Cancer Coalition (http://www.natlbcc.org/bin/index.htm) is an advocacy group for breast cancer detection, treatment, and research.

National Brain Tumor Foundation (http://www.braintumor.org/) is dedicated to providing support and information on treatments and conditions to people affected by brain tumors.

Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer (http://www.spohnc.org/) strives to create a positive impact on meeting the psychosocial needs of patients as well as preserving, restoring, and promoting physical and emotional health. The organization provides, among other services, telephone support, a newsletter, and survivor-to-survivor network.
